Steps to take

Initial Contact

Whether you got a Violation, need repairs/ maintenance or certification, you reached out to ‘us’! Now what?!!! Back Bay Escapes will guide you through the steps all the way until your Fire Escape is secure, safe and most importantly certified

Flexible Schedule Options

Often this is within the first steps prior any Inspection. We understand that your time is valuable. That’s why we offer flexible scheduling options to fit your busy schedule and/or weather predictions. Most cases all we need is your permission to be on the property and tenants awareness that we will be on site to either inspect, or to perform the work

Planning

Stay proactive and avoid work delays! Planning ahead will ensure your project will run on a timely manner and won't affect your budget. A Building Permit for Alterations/Renovations will be needed and it can be obtained through the city's Inspectional Services Department. Because a fire escape serves as a critical means of emergency egress, the application generally requires structural plans or an engineer's report to satisfy the State Building Code.

Consult your local Authority for further clarification

Pricing and Budget

We always do our very best!

When it comes to pricing, Back Bay Escapes strive to be competitive and this means that we will always offer a fair price. Should you find a cheaper price elsewhere prior to your contract with us, let our team know and we will do our very best to Price Match without compromising work quality

Inspection

Back Bay Escapes accredited representative will be on site and visually inspect the integrity of the components, in general accordance with and following the current IFC / IBC laws and by your City and State. The Inspector will conduct a visual multi-point fire escape inspection that covers every component of the current fire escape system. A Report will then be issued and sent to you

Comprehensive Reports

We provide detailed, easy-to-read reports that outline any issues we find during our inspection, along with recommendations for repairs and maintenance. Our reports include photos and descriptions of any areas of concern

Repairs/ Maintenance

Working with our very own team and/or trusted subcontractors or vendors from your area, we keep your job on schedule throughout the entire project. We follow your guidelines or restrictions and make sure all staff adheres to it. From repairing to painting and from maintaining to cleaning. We’ll make sure the entire project will follow the contract guidelines and work agreed upon

End of Work

This phase includes site cleanup, ensure all work has been completed and structure integrity is met. A final Inspection with a final walkthrough will be performed to be sure all work has been completed

Certification

Obtaining a Certificate upon a job completion can differ across States. You must file an affidavit with your City Official or the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and pay the fee in order to get your certificate. A stamped affidavit from a duly licensed builder, a registered Architect, or a registered Structural Engineer will be accepted by officials. For further details, reach out to your local city official
